Thursday night, our freshman volleyball team lost to TJ, 2-1. The team got off to a slow start and fell behind 12-1 before rallying back 25-19. Serving was the catalyst for that rally with Kayla Matlack, Grace Hanna, Chelsea Rios, and Claudia Bryant each serving aces for a team total of ten in the first set and Suheila Mukhtar with a single serve crossing the net. Four players delivered clean attacks – Matlack, Hanna, Rios, and Mukhtar contributing to our come back.

The Warriors won the second set, 25-20. Similar to the first set, we won the second set because of tremendous service by Grace Hanna with 7 aces and ten total serves; Kayla Matlack had three serves including two aces; Clelsea Rios and Claudia Bryant each delivered two serves. Rachel Chapuis’ on court hustle and setting was noteworthy as was the passing by Hanna, Mukhtar and Rios. Attacks came from Hanna, Matlack and Rios.

The third set was a battle; Matlack and Hanna had service aces; Rachel Chapuis got two serves in the court; Rios and Bryant as well delivered solid serves. We continued to attack with 8 successful attacks including two kills by Rios, a relentless attacker who also blocked successfully. Hanna and Matlack also had multiple attacks. In the end, the Warriors made more service errors than did TJ and we dropped the last set 15-9.

Next game is Monday at Justice at 5:00. Come on out and support our team!
