Last night, for the second time this season, the Warriors’ Freshman Volleyball Team defeated Falls Church 2-1. Despite good service and attacking, our abnormally high number of errors cost us the first set 23-25.Chelsea Rios had an impressive performance with seven serves including six aces bringing the team even late in the set. She also had six clean attacks with 4 kills. Grace Hanna had five serves and one ace along with two attacks. Claudia Bryant had two serves with one ace and 66% of her attacks. Kayla Matlack delivered one serve and two attacks, for 50% of attempts. Bryant, Hanna and Rachel Chapuis, our setter, had several saves during the set.

The second set proved more typical performance. Hanna had nine serves and 6 aces; Lily Galloway had one serve; Chelsea Rios had seven serves with four aces. The Chapuis-Rios combination resulted in five attacks including three kills. Rios had three tips and saved the point by digging off the net. Bryant had a strong attack. We had few

In the final set Kayla Matlack, our captain, had three good serves including two that put the Warriors in the win column. Chapius held strong with solid sets. Rios served five aces and had three attacks of four attempts. Hanna and Bryant each had one attack. Overall the team hustled and attacked their way to victory. This brings our season to 9-3. The Warriors take on Lee HS tonight at 5:00. Come out and support your team!
