In our last game of the season the Freshman Volleyball team soundly defeated TJ – a previously undefeated team, 2-0. In the first set, the Warriors got off to a great start winning 25-19. We delivered 16 serves including 12 aces. Claudia Bryant had 8 aces; Grace Hanna and Lilly Galloway had 2 aces, each; and both Rachel Chapuis and Chelsea Rios delivered a serve each. Team had the lead the entire set and played our game with 15 attacks and 4 tips. All hitters got an attack with Hanna with 5 and one kill; Mena Brook with a tip; Rios with 5 attacks and a tip; Bryant with a tip and 2 attacks; Suheila Mukhtar with 3 attacks and Chapuis had at least 2 tips.

In the second set, TJ came back fighting but the Warriors fought harder and push through to win, 25-22. The Warriors got 19 serves in, including 8 aces. Hanna had 5 serves and 2 aces; Galloway had 5 serves and 2 aces; Rios had 8 serves and 4 aces; and Chapuis delivered a serve. The second set proved to be our best set of the year in terms of offense. Seven players had attacks: Kayla Matlack had 4 attacks and 1 kill; Hanna had 4 attacks; Brooks had 3 attacks and 2 kills; Rios had 2 attacks and a tip; Bryant had 3 attacks; and Chapius had at least 1 tip. We made a number of errors in the second set but those were set off by a number of good saves. Rachel Chapuis did a wonderful job at setter. The team out hustled TJ. The Warriors were determined to win their last game of the season and were victorious.

The season concluded with the Warriors achieving their three overarching season goals: a 12-3 record, a positive uplifting attitude especially in the face of adversity and 15 attacks on average per set in a match. We lost to Edison and TJ earlier in the season but earned bragging rights by defeating both teams by greater margins in the second round. This Warrior team proved that hard work, determination and belief in the team produces tangible results. Congratulations to our proud Freshman Volleyball Team! Go Warriors!!
