Wakefield (23-6) took on Harrisonburg High School in the Quarterfinals of the State Tournament at Robinson High School and won 68-49. The Warriors never trailed in the game and at the end of the first quarter led 16-9. Harrisonburg cut the lead to 28-24. But Wakefield outscored the Bluesteaks 40-25 in the second half.
Chris Warner led all scores with 18 (3-5 3-pointers), A’Mari Cooper had 14 points and 14 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assist. Ben Horsford had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Rob Starkey had 11 points and Lukas Hatcher scored 8 points.
Wakefield now moves onto the State Semifinals vs Edison on Tuesday, March 6 at Lake Braddock High School. The winner will play in the State Final Game at VCU on March 8. This will mark the 5th time Wakefield and Edison will play this season.
