Game Recap

Last night the Warriors closed the Freshman Volleyball season with a 2-0 win against TJ High School. Exceptionally strong service in the first set and strong attacking in the second set put the Warriors over the top.

Thi Ley began with 9 straight serves, 8 of them aces to get the lead for the Warriors in the first set. TJ fought back but the Warriors once again this season showed persistence and dominance. Ashley Flores aced 4 serves in the set while Layla Kherbouch had a key ace late in the set. Megan Mezal with 5, Anna Wood with 3 and Nawal Khalil with 1, all attacked for points. Team hustle resulted in saves by both Nawal Khalil and Megan Mezal and contributed to the 25-17 Warrior wins.

TJ came out strong in the second set determined to win but the Warriors proved stronger. Several players had solid serves including: Thi Ley, Ashley Flores, Quincy Jackson, Kate Lanman and Layla Kherbouch. Team attacks were even stronger than their serves. Layla Kherbouch with 1;Ashley Flores with 4; Quincy Jackson with 3; and Nevaeh Wallace with 6, including 1 kill and 1 tip–all contributed to a dominating offense. Quincy Jackson and Nevaeh Wallace hustle to save an off ball twice during the second set. In addition to her great setting, Thi Ley delivered 2 tips over the net for points. The Warriors were victorious in set, 25-20 and in the match.

The 2017 season ends with a 10-3 total record and 10-2 within the Division. The Volleyball team is a source of real pride for Wakefield High School. Thanks to all the parents for their support throughout the season. Wakefield has the best parent support!
