Wakefield High School
Starting off without two key players made us make a few last minute adjustments. I’d been thinking of switching up some of our DS’s with different front row hitters, however, I wasn’t quite yet ready to run my libero (77.8% service point score) for most of the play. I also saw the opportunity to run with a different server and based on the stats I took (75% service point score), this paid off to work out well. Even still, another player got 70% aces out of 10 serves!
Off to the hitting side of things we saw our OH hitting at a .75% kill rate and one of our middles with a .50%! In any event, we saw some very strong hitting that didn’t find much of a challenge as far as blocking because our awesome setter kept the defense off their guard. Our setter racked up 20 assists out of 84 points!
I recorded many more level three passes than previous matches as indicated by a more relaxed setter and I think the obvious result was the lack of defense put up by Mount Vernon against our hitters. Both teams showed strong staying power at a respectable 6 point streak each.
Coming out of our loss from last Tuesday in this manner was a great moral booster for the team and it was a pleasure to be in the winning column once more!
